Welcome To Family Tree Ministries
Resources for Sunday
Hello Family Tree Families!
Hope you are all doing well and gearing up for an interesting start to the school year. It doesn’t feel like the usual hustle and bustle of getting school supplies and shopping for back to school clothes but we have the choice to make it a great learning experience for not only our kids but for us parents as well. My sisters and I joke about wanting our kids to have “safe adversity” in their lives. We want them to have experiences that stretch them and grow them and this is definitely one of those “experiences.” But we’ll all be growing and stretching together.
Please if there is anything we can do for you or your children at this time to help ease into this new school year, let us know! We hope to see you all at the Outdoor Movie Night!
In Mark 8:27-38 we see Jesus and His disciples at the climax of the movie. This is in no way being disrespectful to the Word but it puts things in perspective. The disciples had been following Jesus, listening to every word, seeing all His miracles and now they are being given their final exam….He asks them after all we’ve been through together “Who do you think I am?” And the follow up would be “What are you willing to do about it?” If the disciples (you and me) truly believe Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, the one who came to save the world…what are we all willing to do about it? Mr. Miyagi has given Daniel all the proper tools and now it’s time to prepare for the fight.
Jesus summons the crowd and His disciples and asks the ultimate question “Are you willing to deny yourself and take up your cross and follow me?” Are you willing to die to yourself and turn your life over to Jesus and do His will everyday? Not just here and there, not just when it’s convenient or in front of people you want to impress but in the deepest darkest corners of your life are you willing to embrace your new identity in Christ and truly believe and not be ashamed or afraid of truly following Jesus?
Jesus calls on us to commit our whole lives to Him—to trust Him alone for our salvation, and then to follow Him as His disciples. He said, “Anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:27).
Is Christ the master of your life? Have you put to death your own plans and committed yourself to His will for your life? Don’t be satisfied with anything less, for there is no greater joy in life than following Christ every day.

Peter’s Confession of Christ
27 Jesus went out, along with His disciples, to the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way He questioned His disciples, saying to them, “Who do people say that I am?” 28 They told Him, saying, “John the Baptist; and others say Elijah; but others, one of the prophets.”29 And He continued by questioning them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter *answered and *said to Him, “You are [a]the Christ.” 30 And He [b]warned them to tell no one about Him.
31 And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. 32 And He was stating the matter plainly. And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. 33 But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and *said, “Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind on [c]God’s interests, but man’s.”
34 And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. 35 For whoever wishes to save his [d]life will lose it, but whoever loses his [e]life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. 36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? 37 For what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
9 And Jesus was saying to them, “Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power.”
